About us

Björn & Vildmark is a small family company in Orsa Finnmark.

Andrea Friebe, qualified biologist and PhD student of the Scandinavian Brown Bear Research project, is company leader, researcher and guide in one person. 1997 she started as volunteer in the bear project and qualified in 2000 with a denning study on female bears.

Gunther Schmidt, educated pedagog and qualified engineer is both volunteer and technical advisor in the bear project since 2001. Participating in all kind of field research activities he has a wide knowledge on applied methods and present study works. Gunther is guiding today most of the bear excursions.

Since 1998 we offer guidings, excursions and slidetalks to interested people. By designing exhibitions and visiting schools we spread information about the wildlife bears in Scandinavia.

Each year we participate in both reserach activities and the internal conference of the Scandinavian Bear Research Project so we are able to provide you with the latest news in research!

Björn & Vildmark is member of the steering comitee of Värdskap Orsa, a community to develop local turism.

Due to our own forests in the region we are even member in the local forest corporation Orsa Besparingskog.

Since 2009 we are member in EcoTurism and the local Nature Preservation Organisation.

We dedicate a part of our webspace to the WWF to make it easy for you to contribute to nature preservation. For more information please browse the
Get engaged section.
